A Passing Grade

As most know I took the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) test recently. Some of you know that I was deathly sick that day and I honestly thought I had failed the test. I was pleasantly proven wrong today when I received word that I did indeed pass!

Cert tests are a necessary evil in my field. Nobody likes to take them, very few are highly regarded by those who have them, but employers and management want them. So we take prep courses and buy prep books and do practice tests on the internet until our eyes fall out of our head and our brains start bleeding. We curse while we prepare, we curse while we take the test, and we especially curse after the test. Concert Night!

Tonight is the big concert, Pearl Jam and U2. This concert is perfect for us as I am a big Pearl Jam fan and Meegan is a big U2 fan. There are 6 of us going and it should be a great show.

Pearl Jam also played a show here by themselves last weekend. In it they covered a song, “Hawaii 78″, written by a local legend in music, Israel Kamakawiwo Ole’ aka Bruddah Iz. It is a great cover and you can listen to it here.

A day that lives in infamy

Today is the 65th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. If you ever come to Hawaii and you only visit one thing while you are here then it should be the Arizona Memorial. It is a very sobering and one of the most emotional memorials I have been to.

At the recent parade we went to they had several Pearl Harbor survivors. It was good to see that Americans still respect some things such as these selfless heroes who gave so much to help save not only us but the world as a whole.
